Aperçu

This safari starts and ends in Arusha. It takes you from the Ngorongoro Crater to Lobo in the northern Serengeti, then through the central Serengeti to the Ndutu area, on the border between Ngorongoro and the Serengeti.

You descend over 600 metres to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, and the endless plains of the Serengeti hold great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles.

On the way back you stop at Olduvai Gorge, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey's renowned archaeological discoveries, and finish with a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park.

Jour par jour

  1. Jour 1

    Arusha to Ngorongoro

    The tour starts with lunch in Arusha town at 12:30.

    At 14:00, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

    Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

  2. Jour 2

    Ngorongoro Crater and Lobo

    Today you descend 2,000 feet (over 600 metres) to the floor of the crater for a half-day crater tour. Explore the forest, home to monkeys and elephants, the lake area, where you may see flamingos, and the open savannah where lions hunt.

    Lunch at the lodge.

    After lunch, drive to Serengeti National Park and on to Lobo, in the northern part of the Serengeti.

    Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

  3. Jour 3

    Lobo to the central Serengeti

    Enjoy morning game drives on the endless plains of the Serengeti, with a chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles, or a pride of lions lounging in the shade.

    Return to your lodge for lunch, then leave for the central part of Serengeti National Park.

    Dinner and overnight in the central Serengeti.

  4. Jour 4

    Serengeti to Ndutu

    Enjoy an early morning game drive and a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park.

    Lunch at the lodge.

    After lunch, drive to the Ndutu area, on the border between Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, with game viewing on the way.

    Dinner and overnight at a lodge or camp in Ndutu.

  5. Jour 5

    Ndutu, Olduvai Gorge and Lake Manyara

    Enjoy a morning game drive around the Ndutu area.

    Lunch at the Ndutu camp or the lodge.

    After lunch, drive to Olduvai Gorge, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey's renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the earliest known remains of human ancestors.

    Continue to Lake Manyara for dinner and overnight.

  6. Jour 6

    Lake Manyara and back to Arusha

    After an early breakfast, set off for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, home to hippos, monkeys, tree-climbing lions, flamingos and many other birds.

    In the middle of the morning, drive back to Arusha.

    Lunch at a local restaurant.
