Overview

These three days take you from Dar es Salaam to Bagamoyo, with two nights at a hotel in the town, to explore its history.

You see the Kaole Ruins, the remains of a Shirazi trade town from the 13th to the 17th century, and the Caravan Serai, the old terminus of the caravans that came from the interior to the shore of the Indian Ocean. The Catholic Church, started in 1868, has the tower where Livingstone's body rested for one night before it was shipped to Zanzibar. The trip ends with a morning at leisure on the beach.
