Overview

These four days in Zanzibar, from a hotel in Stone Town, take in the island's spices, the history of its sultans and the daily life of its people.

A full day among the spices shows you how cloves, nutmeg, vanilla and many other plants grow, with stops at the Kidichi Persian Baths, the ruins of Maruhubi Palace and the slave caves at Mangapwani. A second full day takes you to two villages and a local school for a first-hand look at the everyday lives and traditions of the Zanzibari people, and ends with a sunset cruise along the Stone Town waterfront.
