Overview

This safari starts and ends in Arusha and pairs two nights in Ngorongoro with a visit to Tarangire National Park.

In Ngorongoro you descend over 600 metres to the crater floor, with its forest, its lake and its open savannah, and have a picnic lunch in the crater.

Tarangire is noted for its many baobab trees and its tree-climbing lions, and is home to lesser kudu, eland, lion and gerenuk.

Your days

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arusha to Ngorongoro

    The tour starts with lunch in Arusha town at 12:30.

    At 14:00, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

    Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Ngorongoro.

  2. Day 2

    Ngorongoro Crater

    Today you descend 2,000 feet (over 600 metres) to the floor of the crater for a crater tour. Explore the forest, home to monkeys and elephants, the lake area, where you may see flamingos, and the open savannah where lions hunt.

    A picnic lunch is served in the crater.

    Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Ngorongoro.

  3. Day 3

    Tarangire National Park

    After breakfast, leave for Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon of game viewing.

    Lesser kudu, eland, lion and gerenuk live in this beautiful park, noted for its many baobab trees and its tree-climbing lions.

    Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

  4. Day 4

    Tarangire and back to Arusha

    Enjoy an early morning game drive in Tarangire National Park.

    Breakfast at the lodge, then drive back to Arusha, with game viewing on the way.

    Lunch in Arusha town.
