Mikumi National Park is about four and a half hours from Dar es Salaam. It is well known for its elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater kudu, wildebeest, and roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions, leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackals.

On this short safari you have an afternoon game drive and another game drive after breakfast the next day, with a night at a tented camp in between.

  1. Day 1

    Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park

    Leave Dar es Salaam city centre for Mikumi National Park, about four and a half hours away.

    Have lunch at Vuma Hill Tented Camp, then set off on an afternoon game drive. Mikumi is well known for its elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater kudu, wildebeest, and roan and sable antelope.

    Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hill Tented Camp or similar.

  2. Day 2

    Game drive and return to Dar es Salaam

    After breakfast, enjoy another game drive.

    Return to the camp for lunch, then drive back to Dar es Salaam, where you are dropped off in the city centre.
