Overview

In the Selous Game Reserve, waterbuck, southern reedbuck and bushbuck are common, and rare sable antelope, lion and greater kudu also frequent the area.

On this short safari you fly from Dar es Salaam to the reserve and explore the bush on classic-style game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, with a night at Rufiji River Camp. The next morning, an armed ranger takes you on a walking safari, before you fly back to Dar es Salaam.

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Fly to the Selous, afternoon game drive

    You are picked up from Dar es Salaam city centre and taken to Dar es Salaam Airport for a scheduled flight to the Selous Game Reserve.

    On arrival, a representative of Rufiji River Camp meets you and takes you to the camp for lunch.

    In the afternoon, go game viewing in the reserve on classic-style game drives, exploring the bush in open 4x4 vehicles.

    Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

  2. Day 2

    Walking safari and flight back to Dar es Salaam

    After breakfast, go on a walking safari in the reserve with an armed ranger. The sights, sounds and smells of a walking safari are a special treat, and creeping up on animals to 'shoot' them with your camera is a thrill.

    After lunch, transfer to the airstrip for a scheduled flight to Dar es Salaam.

    At Dar es Salaam Airport, you are met and taken to Dar es Salaam city centre.
